Thursday my running group from work set out to run the usual loop around corporate park in the blistering heat. I was pumped all day for it, until work snafus caught my attention at the end of the day. I proceeded to rush into my workout gear, including my water bottle belt (is that what it’s called?) and my iPhone armband. As we set out to run, I realized how heavy my legs felt and how lethargic I felt. I was shuffling my way along the sidewalk and my whole body felt like lead. Everything was just a pain. This was the only thing to get me going:
A reason I run on Thursdays is so Ryan and I can prep for an upcoming 10-mile race in Orlando and we usually run side by side. But I was soo sloow I felt like I was at least a mile away behind him. This was the closest I could even get. It wasn’t until a mile and a half in he noticed my whimpering and stopped to see how I was.
“I…JUST….CAN’T….DOIT!!!!” I wailed. I had encouraged myself to keep going the whole way, but sometimes the heat, your attitude (or maybe the time of the month) just doesn’t allow you to work out at your best. But I am so fortunate to have such a great guy by my side to encourage me and let me know it’s ok when a workout is subpar.
I was ok with not finishing the run and walking back to the car. We’ll just work toward it next time. I was also ok with heading back because it was date night!
The restaurant is famous for their Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer so we quickly put in an order for these bad babies. I can’t remember the last time I’ve had these! I don’t frequent BG often – it’s usually too crowded. The coupon enticed us to go. (Good marketing partnership, BG & Visa!) The shrimp were crunchy, spicy and delicious!
For my entree I ordered a special on the menu – a lobster roll with the seasonal tomato summer salad. I only ate the lobster out of the salad, because the bread was meh – it was very heavy and tasted like a fake, mushy Texas toast.
The night ended at the neighboring fro-yo shop, YoBlendz. The flavor choices weren’t that exciting, which resulted in a take-home cookies-n-cream/walnuts combo and spilled syrupy fro-yo on the bed. I voluntarily put myself in the virtual doghouse for that one. (womp womp)
Do you have a Bonefish Grill in your area? Do you like it?
